As California advances toward higher electric vehicle (EV) sales goals public fast charging stations will be needed in greater numbers. These chargers will be needed to facilitate long distance travel, meet occasional charging needs, and could be useful for households without home charging.
The annual Transit Research Symposium convenes students, researchers, transit agencies, local governments, state agencies and policy makers. Sessions will feature presentations from our own researchers and our collaborators.

Micromobility services are often considered a good option for reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and related greenhouse gas emissions. An expected benefit of using micromobility services assumes that some trips replace personal car use and ride-hailing.
Alternatives to motor fuels taxes (colloquially, “gas taxes”) are necessary to supplement declining state and federal transportation revenue. Distance-based fees, like mileage fees, have been suggested, but public support is low.
