Comparing California and European Strategies for Reaching Very Low Carbon Transportation Systems

Event Date

Achieving a near-zero CO2 transportation system within California by 2045 will be extremely challenging. This rapid transition will require a revolution in the rate of uptake of transportation technologies and the way transportation services are provided, but ultimately stringent policies will be needed to bring these technologies and services to bear, and to ensure economic viability. Like California, Europe has strong and ambitious decarbonization goals, and the two regions can learn from each other in terms of their targets, policy plans, and on-going progress and challenges. This webinar will provide an interesting first-of-its-kind assessment of policies across transportation modes including road, aviation and shipping across California and the EU, providing lessons for California policymakers from the European experience.
